API Architect, in API Governance
Banking and finance are undergoing incredibly exciting changes, and DNB is taking an active part in defining the future of financial services and is moving towards becoming a leading technology company with a bank license. To move towards the future and present our customers with new and exciting functionality, we need to increase our API-capabilities.
DNB has a need of an API custodian, and your work would be focused on modern API design and lifecycle management in both cloud and on-premise environments. This is a key role in our effort to build the future DNB tech platform and adapting to new business models. You would be right in the middle of our Technology strategy execution. Our main focus is on REST APIs and Event based messaging, but other API technologies (GraphQL, gRPC and legacy) are also in use.
Position Summary:
Architecture work with focus on integration in DNB with a focus on reusable APIs.
Be an API Custodian, a central role in API Governance, together with the other API Custodians, working on API-related principles and tooling, in cooperation with the API Champions across various teams in DNB.
The API Custodians role’s main goals are to:
- Ensure a holistic and well governed implementation of APIs in DNB
- Increase API maturity in DNB
- Simplify how our developers works – by improving automation and API tooling
Responsibilites (shared with other API Custodians in API Governance)
API
- Maintain and communicate the DNB API Principles and design guidelines, main dialog is with architects and software engineers
- Overall management of API lifecycle across DNB
- Coach, guide and enforce how to design and manage APIs in all lifecycle aspects across DNB
- QA and governance of API design
- Perform API Design Review, and participate in API design when necessary
- Work with the other architects in API Governance and Integration and Flow in maintaining the API and integration blueprint
- Responsible for proactively initiating and implementing improvements within API Governance and DNBs API work.
Architecture
- Work on the tech stack, governance and architecture for APIs in collaboration with other teams working on DNBs cloud platforms, API development teams and our Open Banking team.
- Assist architects in different areas to standardize patterns and integration tech stacks for APIs
- Ensure we establish the rights requirements and build the necessary capabilities
Tooling
- Define and help buy/integrate/build the necessary tool stack for API design, schema validation and API management in DNB
- Ensure global standards on tools are adhered too and used for its right purpose.
Desired skills
- Experience with developing or designing integration solutions with modern APIs
- Experience with API Gateway products
- Knowledge of information architecture
- Knowledge of Agile and DevOps
A good understanding of other established integration and API technologies like SOAP and MQ would also be beneficial as well as knowledge of the financial sector
